Who We Are

Ignite exists to consistently create safe atmospheres for children in high-risk neighborhoods, offering compassion, community, purpose, and hope. We are committed to supporting families in these areas by creating safe spaces for their children to thrive.

Our Mission

As a team, we are dedicated to offering these children hope by consistently showing up, building relationships, providing mentorship, engaging in their lives, and being reliable listeners. We achieve this by providing a supportive community, opportunities for learning and exploration, and ensuring plenty of play. Our aim is to provide diverse and innovative support to these children, helping them build confidence and optimism for their future. Ignite is fully devoted to investing in the next generation by instilling value, purpose, and hope, one child at a time.

 

How We Do It

Every week, our team packs up a mobile classroom, complete with a tent, tables, chairs, games, crafts, and supplies, and sets up in a local government housing neighborhood. For 60 to 90 minutes, we host a high-energy, heart-forward after-school program for kids ages 7–12.

As students get off the bus, we go door to door inviting them to join us. Our time begins with team games to break the ice, followed by snacks, a quick review of the rules, and a short, engaging lesson. Topics range from who God is, to identity and purpose to Biblical stories and life principles.

Kids then dive into hands-on crafts or creative activities, something they absolutely love. Whether it's painting, building, or creating something new, it gives them space to express themselves. We also play board games, card games, and outside sports—soccer matches are always a highlight!

All of this creates natural, meaningful one-on-one moments. While playing and creating, we talk, listen, pray for their needs, and remind them how deeply they matter. It’s a simple, consistent presence - and it’s making a difference.

Join Us Through Prayer

  • More Long-Term Staff
    Pray for passionate, committed staff to join our team—especially to help us engage older kids in more focused ways, supporting them in academics, sports, and healthy relationships.

  • A Permanent Building
    We’re believing for a dedicated space for Ignite. A building would allow us to meet in all weather, host small groups by age, have private conversations, and create a consistent environment for the kids.

  • Storage for Supplies
    Pray for a solution to store all our gear—tents, chairs, games, crafts—so we no longer have to transport everything weekly.

  • Expansion to More Neighborhoods
    Ask God to open doors into more communities where kids need safe spaces, consistent mentorship, and the love of Jesus.
