The unknown? Not my favorite. The unknown is exhausting. Until I remember to trust God in the unknown. He’s got “the unknown” and He’s got me. Always.

Trusting God In The Unknown
I love surprises. L.O.V.E. them! The joy they bring. The fact that someone thought of you. The celebration that they are. Love them.
The unknown?
Not so much. Even though surprises are unknown, they are good. The unknown most often falls in the negative basket for me. What’s ahead? What does that mean for me? How is my life going to be altered, because it most certainly is going to be altered. The unknown keeps me awake at night with my mind trying to put puzzle pieces together in a myriad of ways, not even sure I have the right puzzle pieces. The unknown is exhausting. Emotionally, mentally, and for me, ultimately physically.
Until.
Until I remember.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not unto your own understanding. Acknowledge him in all your ways, and he shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5
Until I lean into Jesus, get His perspective on the unknown, His heart for me in the waiting, His direction for my next step, the unknown is ominous. Once I have leaned into Jesus, the unknown can still be big, but the big black rain cloud that comes with it goes away. The fear subsides.

- Proverbs 3:6 “In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”
- Psalm 9:10 “And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.”
- Psalm 37:5 “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.”
- Jeremiah 17:7-8 “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.”
Taylor Swift has a line in a song that I just adore.
“The monsters turned out to be just trees…”
This is what Jesus does with the unknown. He shines His light of truth on it, reminds me that He’s got “the unknown” and He’s got me. Always.
